Comiskey and Wrigley Where to stay? Trains?

Visiting Chicago for 4 days in the summer, going to see Sox for 1 game and then Cubs for 1-2 games. Flying in and I think cabbing to hotel (logical?), I was thinking of staying near wrigley (suggestions, mid range -economy, I%26#39;m a BWestern type traveller usually) and walking to cubs%26#39;s games, but are both parks within walking distance from train (games are day games, safe??). If trains easy should I stay more centrally and see a bit more of Chicago after the game?? Never been.

Stay near the red line downtown like Four Points Hotel on Rush and you will have easy access to both parks. Cubs you take red line going north, for sox, take red line going south. Wrigley Field area is a fun place to visit, but I wouldn%26#39;t recommend staying way up there as it%26#39;s too far from other attractions. Lots of bars and restaurants and a blast on game day, but you will be happy to be back downtown on your ';non cubs day';. Also, you won%26#39;t want to hang around sox park after the game--you will want to head downtown right away. yes both parks are within walking distance of train and totally safe. Also, both airports have a train line that takes you downtown so if you like saving money, you will want to take a train in from the airport.

As noted previously, staying downtown is a better option.

www.explorechicago.org is a good site to do some research.

Looking for simple downtown (Red Roof looks it is a dump now by reviews), anything cheaper than Four Points or am I dreaming?

Check out the Cass Holiday Inn Express -- it is well located and was recently remodeled. Also, look at travelzoo.com for any special deals.
