Hi everyone. We (Mum, Dad, and 2 boys age 14 and 11) will be coming to Chicago next year for the week in October, where is the best place to stay? We have no idea, we would like to be near shops, restaurants, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks from the UK.

Downtown - the Magnificent Mile (Mag Mile) and River North areas are best from a tourist perspective. You can read hotel reviews in the Chicago Hotels section of this web site. Also visit - www.explorechicago.org

I agree with Dave148. There%26#39;s plenty of food, hotels, and museums, and don%26#39;t forget Navy Pier..the kids will love it. You can try the boutique style hotels: Hotel Monaco or my favorite Hotel Burnham, right off State Street, within walking distance of Chicago%26#39;s version of Broadway theater. Don%26#39;t forget to take a trolley tour of the city as well as a boat tour of the lake and/or Chicago River. Have fun!.
Of course you can%26#39;t go wrong with Mag Mile or the Loop. Considering you have children along- I would suggest the Palmer House Hilton- this puts you very close to the Museum Campus and Millenium Park, versus the shopping district which is more north. Since you don%26#39;t have an attachment to any particular hotel, you might try Priceline. As long as you don%26#39;t budge from 4-star in either the Loop or River North neighborhoods I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be disappointed; and you could really save alot, depending on the season.
