Need help ASAP.. Please read!

Hi,

My husband and I are coming to Chicago in 2 weeks and we are staying at a friend%26#39;s house on N. Central Avenue, 60639. She is about 2-3 blocks from W. Fullerton Ave.

We are landing at Midway Airport on Wednesday night and going to McCormick Place on Thursday and Friday.

Do we need to rent a car? Is there any public transportation from the airport to her house and from her house to McCormick place?

On Saturday and Sunday we are going to tour Chicago. We are concerned about her location since we don%26#39;t know what to do in regards of transportation.

Any help is highly appreciated.

www.transitchicago.com for public transit information. There%26#39;s a trip planner function on the home page. You will take the CTA orange line train from MDW. No need for a car here. A CTA visitor pass might come in handy for your visit.

www.explorechicago.org for tourist information.

While it%26#39;s doable by public transportation, it is quite a hike, as Fullerton and Central isn%26#39;t really near any of the subway/el lines. Frankly, if it were me, I would rent a car to use from the airport to her house and then to McCormick Place (parking is very expensive there, though) and then use public transit on Saturday and Sunday. For example, you are probably talking two trains and a bus to get from the airport, at least two buses and one train, if not two, to get to McCormick Place. How late do you arrive on Wednesday? That is another consideration, as well as what times you need to be at McCormick Place. If you get a good rate on a car, then you could use the car to return to Midway airport when you leave (unclear from your post if you are leaving on Sunday or Monday). Another consideration is how much luggage you have.

Assuming you don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage, a northbound CTA X54 Cicero Express bus would be a good option. Get off at Cicero/Fullerton. Transfer to a westbound #74 bus and get off at Central. The trip takes about an hour. The X54 only runs weekdays.

The Cicero bus does run through some not so great neighborhoods. As you state you are arriving in the evening, I probably wouldn%26#39;t go that route. Depending how late you are arriving, if you%26#39;re not renting a car, I would probably pop for a taxi.
