I have reservations at both these places for 5 nights late May. With room, tax and parking the Courtyard is $85 cheaper, it does not have a fridge or microwave in room, which Four points does. CY said I could request one for free of charge, but not gauranteed - I could just restock cooler with ice each morning to have cold drinks in afternoon, so no big problem. Does anyone have good or bad info on these hotels, pool size or anything useful, Thanks.
compare Courtyard to Four PointsIs the Courtyard $85/night cheaper, including parking? Definitely the better deal. You can read reviews of each property in the Chicago Hotels section of this web site.
compare Courtyard to Four PointsYes, I have the 4pts for $165 x 1 %26amp; $155 x 4 and parking 5 nights for $34/night. The CY is $129 x 2 %26amp; 160 x 3 and parking $28/night. I put 15.4% tax on rooms (not parking) and it came to like $84.41 cheaper. I booked the 4 pts in late Dec, so have read alot about it, it seems to be pretty nice. I found the CY price Friday. We are a family of four, the indorr pool is a MUST.
Agree, FP is nicer than a CY. But for $85/night less, I%26#39;d still take the CY.
note $85/ whole stay.
Based on the parking rate I think you%26#39;re referring to CY Mag Mile (i.e. vs. CY River North). If so, I have stayed at both (w/ kids) and here is my 2 cents:
* The pool at the 4 Points is bigger. Both the actual pool and the deck area. Both are shallow pools.
* The pool area at the 4 Points has a hot tub (up a small set of steps from the main pool). I don%26#39;t recall a hot tub at the CY.
* There *may* be an outdoor deck area at the 4 Points. I think I recall seeing one, but have only stayed in the winter so did not use.
* I like the 4 Points location a little better. Closer to Red Line, more foot traffic, Trader Joe%26#39;s grocery store in the building.
* I like the staff at 4 Points. Really friendly doorman at each stay.
* The parking garage elevator at the 4 Points is the same as the hotel access. For the CY you have to go to the lobby from parking then into the hotel to go up to your room.
Both properties are great. To me it would come down to loyalty point preference. You could research alternative parking to potentially reduce your cost more.
';note $85/ whole stay.'; That brings your savings down to $17/night. In that case, I%26#39;d take the FP.
Yes, I%26#39;m talking CY on MAG mile (165 Ontario St.). Both seem to be pretty nice. I have read so much about 4P and after what you just replyed and Dave 148 replyed (worth $17/night). I think I will cancel CY. We will be using city transport, so being two blocks closer to it will be nice also. The more foot traffic seems to be a better idea also. I already have my Cubs tickets, I%26#39;m waiting on White Sox tic, after these two stadiums that will make 12 MLB parks that my son and I have been two. Is there a place close (do-nuts, McD%26#39;s, etc.) to 4P for breakfast? The fridge %26amp; microwave will help some for BF.
Thanks for the reply, I see you answer people alot here, So I trust your advice. She my reply to other guy for add%26#39;l info you could supply. We want to go to Pizzera UNO one night (I think there is one close and it was the one on Amazing Race a few years back).
Breakfast near the 4P:
www.tempocafechicago.com
Original Pancake House
(312) 642-7917
22 E Bellevue Pl.
There is a Dunkin about two blocks east and one block south of the 4P. There is the large ';rock and roll'; McDonalds about 4-5 blocks west of 4P. There may be another closer to the east.
Also the Trader Joe%26#39;s grocery in the 4P building has single-serve OJ, milk, etc., fruit, (limited) baked goods, etc. for breakfast. Beer, wine, water, soda, too (for after breakfast).
There is a Pizzeria Uno (possibly the Pizzeria Due location) literally across the street from 4P.
