Lincoln Park bars

Hi,

I%26#39;ve heard that the lincoln park area is good for bars and having a couple of drinks? We%26#39;re staying just near Navy Pier in May and we are thinking the bars in this area may be a bit %26#39;touristy%26#39; (sorry,i know thats what i%26#39;ll be)

Fancy finding more local bars, is lincoln park the best place for this?

it%26#39;s def. a neighborhood worth checking out for sure! Loads of bars there, and places to eat, and theatres, comedy clubs etc. Very much an area to consider for a night out. It%26#39;s easy to get to and from as well from downtown via bus or el train.

Lakeview which is directly north of Lincoln Park is another big neighborhood with plenty of bar/pub options.

Wicker Park / Bucktown are other %26#39;trendy%26#39; neighborhoods that might suit for a drink or two!

A few suggestions: Galway Arms, John Barleycorns, Mickeys, start at Belden and Lincoln and walk one block in either direction and see how long you can last....

What kind of bars are you looking for? There are so many to choose from. I have lived in the city for 29 years and know a lot of bars in the area. Let me know.

Thanks for your suggestions people, i%26#39;ve had a look on google maps and the area does seem full of bars.

Will definetly be visiting a few bars round there, im right in thinking that this is where the college %26#39;kids%26#39; hang out? Im 25 and my girlfriend is 24 so im sure we%26#39;d be okay.

Anyone else who has any suggestions, let me know

Lincoln Ave is a good bet for a younger crowd, as DePaul University is right there. Also Clark St. from Addison south to Sheffield also has tons of bars and a younger crowd typically. The ages will be more varied if there is a Cubs game.

Depending on your tastes, you might want to check out wicker park/bucktown area instead (or in addition to). It%26#39;s a little less collegiate/sports bar-y and more hipster/urban gritty/alternative. Lots of great bars and restaurants and stores. Double Door for music is right there...Empty Bottle%26#39;s a little farther away. Take the Blue Line and get off at the Damen stop. Go to Violet Hour. If you can find it.
