Just a few hours on public transit

Will be in Naperville visiting family next week. Considering a day trip to the city for some exploring. Problem is, we%26#39;ll have our young son with us, so nap time is a consideration.

So if you had 4 or 5 hours to explore, what would you do? Probably no zoos or aquariums, unless there%26#39;s something so special we wouldn%26#39;t see it at other zoos/aquariums. But Chicago specific sights.

Sears Tower? Navy Pier? A walk-by of Wrigley Field?

Our interests are varied...just looking for a quick ';best of'; of the city. We%26#39;ll definitely be back for more another time.

Umm...title should have been ';Just a few hours in city (travel by publi transit)'; or something that didn%26#39;t suggest I%26#39;d been on public transit for many hours...

If you%26#39;re coming in on Metra, you%26#39;re close to Sears Tower when you get downtown. The Chicago Children%26#39;s Museum is at Navy Pier. Weather permitting, Millennium Park is a good option. I would leave Wrigley Field for another visit. www.explorechicago.org is a great site to do some research. www.transitchicago.com for public transit information.

Millenium Park, Lakefront walk, Michigan Avenue walk, Navy Pier is OK kind of reminds you of a boardwalk like Atlantic City.

Agree with Dave on Wrigley...and it is up North about 2.7 miles or so...too far...stay downtown.

This doesn鈥檛 really answer your question, but鈥?Since you will be in Naperville, make sure that you visit the Riverwalk. It鈥檚 a lovely place to visit on a nice day. There are many restaurant options in downtown Naperville, and it鈥檚 pleasant just to walk around.

We%26#39;ll have a few days in Naperville, and my sister is right near the park downtown, so I think we%26#39;ll be spending quite a bit of time there.

Take the train into Union Station, then hop on one of the water taxis that run on the Chicago River to Navy Pier. http://www.wendellaboats.com/ You get a nice view of the architecture of Chicago on the trip and you save some walking with your child.
