airport parking

My wife and I are coming to Chicago in May for 4 days and are finding most parking is $20 and up per day. Has anyone ever parked at the airport and then taken the L into the downtown?

The least expensive parking at the airports is going to be around $13/day. If you add the $4.50/each round trip L fare, you%26#39;ve paid the parking rates at the less expensive lots downtown and saved over an hour in travel time.

The least expensive airport lots are off-site, so you%26#39;d have to park, take a shuttle to the terminals, then go to the rail station. The trip into The Loop is around 45-60 minutes. The info on the least expensive lot at O%26#39;Hare says to allow 45 minutes to reach the terminal by shuttle.

The only other option is to stay at one of the hotels near O%26#39;hare and take the Blue Line in. Best to stay downtown, IMO and park somewhere like Millenium Park garage. If you enter parking in the search thread, this topic has been addressed before and people more knowledgeable than I have listed the best places to park. It all depends on what area you are staying in.

Sorry, looked at your message again. Are you talking about parking one time, then taking the train in, and leaving your car for all four days until you leave? If you want to do that, you could certainly do that at O%26#39;Hare remote lots. I think they charge something like $14 per day but am not certain. I have never parked at the Blue Line stop at Cumberland, which is near O%26#39;Hare, for more than a day, but I imagine that could be done as well. I believe you can get their rates at transitchicago.com, which is the CTA website. If you do park at O%26#39;Hare, parking lot E has access to the airport people mover train, which would take you right to the terminal where the Blue Line stop could be accessed. There is also a metra stop at O%26#39;Hare on the North Central line but I am not certain where it is located, check metrarail.com and it may give the exact location. It is not in the terminal area, I know that.

I am sure that people have done that. I would check into parking at Cumberland, though. Parking there is $12/day and it is a huge parking garage. I think that as long as you are there for less than a week you won%26#39;t have problems. It will also save you from having to navigate around the airport to get to the train station.
