Metra to MSI - Do I have this correct?

My family %26amp; I are in Chicago now and may go to the Museum of Science %26amp; Industry if we have time. From downtown is it easiest to take the Metra to 56th-57th and walk from there? Is it an easy and safe walk with kids?
