Hi,
Some friends and I are coming in June for a concert at Ravinia. The concert is Friday night, June 26th. We were going to arrive Thursday night and spend most of the day Friday just exploring the city. We will have a car, but were thinking of taking the train to Ravinia Friday night for the concert. Is that what you all would recommend, rather than driving to the concert? Also, for a hotel, we were thinking of staying at the Westin (saw someone%26#39;s post about the Travel Zoo $119 special). Any feedback? Looking for something less than $200 or $250 per night, but want to be right in the heart of things. Thanks!!
Danielle
Ravinia--Coming to Chicago for concert
Most certainly take the train. It drops off right at the gate and there will be a train waiting after the concert to take you back. You can sit back and enjoy a couple drinks on the way and not have to worry about driving. Not sure if you are in the pavillion or not, but if not, you will want to bring chairs and/or a blanket. As you probably saw, you can bring in food and drinks as well.
Just a warning, if you have lawn tickets, you will NOT be able to see the band, unless you stand by the railing outisde of the pavillion section.

The Westin has a good deal. Keep in mind, you%26#39;ll need to take a bus or cab from there to/from Ogilvie Metra station to catch the train to Ravinia. It%26#39;s also at the north end of the Mag Mile area. Not quite in the ';heart of things.';
Ok, thanks for the replies! What would be a closer hotel that would be right in the heart of things? What about the Hilton Garden Inn on E. Grand? I think it%26#39;s a few blocks from the Theatre District?
The HGI is more centrally located.
