The latest post I saw re. the Shedd was from Sept. 2008. We%26#39;re heading to Chicago this weekend %26amp; need to know what%26#39;s happening there. Is it only partially closed? There%26#39;s nothing on the Shedd Aq. website, other than a Homecoming event for the animals in May.
update on the Shedd Aquarium?
sorry- I figured out how to sort the posts by date %26amp; found out that it%26#39;s the Oceanarium that is closed for renovations. Sorry if I%26#39;m being dense, but how major is that? Is there still enough open to make the visit worthwhile? Thanks-

I think it%26#39;s still worth the trip. Maybe call them and see if they are offering discount admission.
the oceanarium was always a seperate ticket because it is the really cool part. I would visit somewhere else unless you have your heart set on it. There is the big centeral tank, but most of the exhibits in the old part are not that exciting. The lincoln park zoo, the planetarium, or especially the Museum of Science and Industry--anyone with kids should make a stop there.
I%26#39;m biased as a lover of sea life, boating, fishing, snorkeling, etc., but I think the Shedd Aquarium is the best of the all museums. I love it. You%26#39;ll miss out on the whales and dolphins, but there are still several great exhibits. I love the reef exhibit and have always like the Amazon exhibit as well.
Depends on what you are interested. I find the Field Museum to be dreadfully boring, but that%26#39;s just me. I like things that are alive and moving.
