I will have 3 days to get rid of the jet-lag before a conference. I booked Chicago Intercontinental through Hotwire. I have understood the hotel is pretty close to everything? Any suggestions on where to eat? As I am alone I don%26#39;t want to go to the finest restaurants, but I don%26#39;t want to go to the most busiest either.
This is my first time traveling to USA by my own, kind of scared and excited at once. :) Anything I should take in consideration with that matter? And no, I am not going to go outside the hotel in the night. :)
I have tried to get in contact with the hotel, via e-mail, but they don%26#39;t answer e-mails. My concern are that I am not very keen on taking the elevator, so I would prefer a room at the lower floors. Are those room less nice? Well, I think I will have to call the hotel, although I prefer to write e-mails because of language barriers...:)

Your hotel is in a good area. www.explorechicago.org to see what%26#39;s going on here during your visit.
www.chicagoreader.com has a good dining search tool. You can search by area, cuisine, budget etc. The concierge at your hotel will offer dining suggestions.
Woman alone, staying at Chicago Intercontinental
Your hotel is in a great area, it%26#39;s right on Michigan Avenue and within walking distance of a lot of restaurants. If I was by myself, I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate for a minute walking along Michigan Avenue at night, there are always people out. Well, maybe not at 4 am but during the normal hours for eating, etc.
You might want to give us an idea of what kinds of food you want to eat and a budget, there are a lot of places close by. If you want to try Chicago pizza, take a look at Giordano%26#39;s. Pizzeria Uno has good pizza but there%26#39;s always a wait. So does Gino%26#39;s East (and I don%26#39;t personally care for their pizza). They all have individual size pizzas. If you want to try a Chicago hot dog or Italian beef, Portillos is a good option.
I travel by myself on occasion, I like to eat so I go to whatever restaurants I want to and bring something to read so I don%26#39;t sit and stare at people. I%26#39;m a little more cautious about walking around late at night but you%26#39;ll find the Michigan Avenue area is pretty busy with lots of pedestrians. You may find a few panhandlers but just keep walking past them and they won%26#39;t hassle you.
If you like wine, chocolate and cheese, or any combination of the three, there is a great place in your hotel called ENO, which has these things on the menu as their speciality. You can eat and drink near a window and watch the world walk by.
When are you coming? We can give you some ideas as to what to do, etc. but some may depend on the weather at the time. BTW, I have been to Bergen twice and just loved it!
Try sending them a fax with your request and ask them to e-mail a response.
Aw, I am feeling bad. For a strange reason I didn%26#39;t get an e-mail about the replies here, so I never checked if I had gotten any. I am so sorry!
Thank you so much for all your great replies. I haven%26#39;t done anything regarding my stay yet, I think I will call the hotel at Monday.
I will come to Chicago at Wednesday and will stay in the city until Saturday. I%26#39;ll be moving to Wyndham O%26#39;Hare for two days because of a conference. I%26#39;ve read terrible reviews from that hotel, but hope it%26#39;s not that bad. :-O
I really like Japanese food, are there any good Japanese restaurants close to my hotel? I fell in love with California Pizza Kitchen when we were at Hawaii two years ago. Is it the same all over the US? I hope so, because I%26#39;ve found there is one close to my hotel. :)
About the weather... The weather forecast tells it%26#39;s going to be 5 degrees c. at Monday and already at Saturday it%26#39;s going to be 24. can I expect the weather to be warm or is it likely to be cold again?
Wow, I didn%26#39;t think anybody here had been to Bergen. Haha, normally people from the US think that Norway is a city in Sweden...:-D Did you go to Bergen for a holiday? In the summer?
Are you looking for a Japanese restaurant downtown or near the Wyndham? Same for CPK.
I%26#39;m looking for restaurants near the Chicago Intercontinental. Thanks in advance.
';Japonais'; is a 10 minute cab ride. Really good food and lovely ambiance. Not that this matters but a fun tidbit, I have a friend that works there and whenever Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are in town (which isn%26#39;t that much except when they are filming), they eat there all the time.
Sushi Samba is in Rover North area (I think) and should be a close walk with good sushi. I really enjoyed Ai Sushi, which is accessible via public transit.
