chicago hotel suggestion

We will be flying into Midway and will be spending one night in Chicago. We have never done this before and have a small budget to work with. Any suggestions on where to stay and what to do for a full day and one evening. Any help would be appreciated.

You can take a CTA orange line train from MDW to/from downtown. www.transitchicago.com for details. There%26#39;s a trip planner function on the home page.

Stay in or near downtown (south and east of the Chicago River, north of Congress Blvd.) or stay near State Street north of the river. This will give you a easy and cheap access to Midway via the Orange Line train; if you stay north of the river, you will use the Red Line subway to connect to the Orange Line at Roosevelt. Trip Advisor and www.hotels.com have good mapping features for hotels. The market is very competitive now, with many deals going on for central hotels at $150 or even less. However, if you see prices that are out of line, it%26#39;s usually because of a convention or other special event; you may save as much as $100 a night by switching weekends.
