THe best steak I ever had was at Custom House. It is a beautifully decorated, sleek place. Decor is minimal, think grey and maroon with fresh flowers and modern art. It%26#39;s refined and quiet. I like Roy%26#39;s too--big, bustling, louder, alot going on, the food is interesting--based on hawaiian cuisine so think pork and pineapple.

what about tango sur? nice place for dinner with 6 of us for birthday?

TS has great food and is cozy. If you can get a reservation for 6, go for it.

Hi DGMRS,

Lots of difference between Tango Sur and others like Mercat. Tango is not dressy, very casual, BYOB. Long lines, good steak. Mercat very upscale, cool scene, see and be seen, very intersting food but high priced, downtown. Landmark is a cool place as well, still in the know Chicago, bit upscale, fits your age group, nice people and good food. MK stll good food, River North, all are good but what do you want is the question! Go to Chicago Reader on the web...www.chicagoreader.com or metromix Chicago and do some research. Personal favorites for what you say would be Mercat or Landmark.
