Suburb Family Activities??

I%26#39;m looking for some ideas of kid friendly weekend activities in the North and West suburbs of Chicago.(We%26#39;re in Highland Park) We have a 3 and 5 yr old and we need some inspiration beyond Chuck e Cheese. :)

We%26#39;ve already done the Kohl%26#39;s kids museum in Glenview - great place by the way - and the zoos.

I thank you in advance for your great help!

Suburb Family Activities??

It%26#39;s been a long time, but when my children were little, they really enjoyed Pirates%26#39; Cove in Elk Grove Village:

Suburb Family Activities??

It may be too far from Highland Park, but the the Morton Arboretum Children%26#39;s Garden is amazing: http://www.mortonarb.org/main.taf?p=2,3,1

Kids like trains - http://www.irm.org/

Game Works at Streets of Woodfield

Legoland at Streets of Woodfield

Medevil Times in Schaumburg

Kid friendly, but not necessarily enjoyable for a 3 and 5 year old - Arlington Park Race Track

Cosley Animal Farm in Wheaton

Kline Creek Farm in Wheaton

I%26#39;m loving the ideas! We%26#39;ve done the Cosley farm in Wheaton - cute little park farm and Medeval Times - my daughter still swooning over the Crimson %26amp; Gold knight (He gave her a carnation, it%26#39;s true love.)

We%26#39;ll have to look up Kline Creek. The kids liked Cantigny so I imagine they%26#39;ll like the Morton Arboritum %26amp; I know the Chicago Botanical has some good kids events once it warms up too.

I%26#39;ve heard the Lego place is expensive unless you have a coupon %26amp; often too crowded to really enjoy.

Keep the ideas coming - I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;m not the only one looking for weekend ideas for the kiddos.

Legoland was pretty lame. I certainly wouldn%26#39;t go there without a coupon. It%26#39;s the kind of place you visit once and never need to return.

The Fox Valley Park District operates the Red Oak Nature Center in Batavia. What makes this place different from other nature centers is that there is a cave a short hike away along the banks of the Fox River. It is a small cave, but to a little child it is plenty big. As far as I know this is the only cave in the Chicago area. Bring flashlights!

Nearby is the Fabyan Forest Preserve, south of Geneva. Worth seeing are the Fabyan Villa Museum (probably not appealing to a child), the Japanese Garden and the Fabyan Windmill.
