We are planning on a weekend trip in May and we would love to know about some places to take our kids. We have two boys- 5 and 3. We are thinking Shedds Aquarium and Navy Pier. Are they too yound for the Field Museum? What else would you recommend? On a side note: any suggestions for downtown dining with children our age? Thank you in advance.
Things to do with a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old
I don%26#39;t think they%26#39;re too young for the Field Museum... the little guys in my life are now 7, 9 and 13... and at 5 and 3, they much preferred going to Children%26#39;s Museum, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Shedd%26#39;s and Lincoln Park Zoo... Nature Museum and Zoo may be something you want to consider, they share a parking lot and could be a good full or 1/2 day of entertainment!
Navy Pier will have good dining options...Bubba Gumps...a food court to please everyone...
Any Chicago Style Pizza place would be kid friendly... I don%26#39;t typically recommend Rainforest Cafe, but being a Chicago local, I%26#39;ve taken the little guys there more times than I care to count, lol..
Some others I very regularly take kids to:
Portillo%26#39;s
Heaven on Seven
Big Bowl
Flat Top (all are adventurous eaters, makes a difference)
Lao Beijing, Lao Szechuan in Chinatown
Uncle Julio%26#39;s
Greek Islands in Greektown
Some of these are localish chains...but I find them to be the most kid friendly.

You can take the brown line up north to timeless toys. The brown line is nice as it%26#39;s not underground so they can look out the window. They will feel like they are on a real train. You can go to the toy store and then have a nice lunch at any local cafe you find. www.timelesstoys.com
