We are coming to chicago April 6 at 10:30am we leave Apr 9th at 10:20am.
We have three kids 2,6,and 9.
We would love to fit in the Navy Pier, Shedd, The Field, Adler, Museum of Science and Industry, and a few little things like Hershey and others. Any suggestions on how to get it all in and not kill all three kids? LOL
Can we fit it all in?
The MSI needs at least a 1/2 day. It%26#39;s 7 miles south of downtown. Depending on your pace/endurance, Shedd, Field %26amp; Adler can be knocked off in the same day.
Let the weather be your guide. If it%26#39;s crummy out, Navy Pier isn%26#39;t fun. Hit Hershey %26amp; Navy Pier on the same day.
Can we fit it all in?
How are you getting here and where are you staying?
It may be har to fit all of your destinations into 2 1/2 days because their hours of operation are somewhat short and overlapping.
At this time, the Shedd has some major attractions closed. Check the website - you may want to visit at another time. While Navy Pier may not be everyone%26#39;s cup of tea, it is a ';do not miss'; with kids the ages of yours because of the Children%26#39;s Museum. The LP zoo is another don%26#39;t miss - pick the nicest day of the three for the zoo, and the second nicest for Navy Pier.
We are staying at
Hampton Inn %26amp; Suites Chicago-Downtown
33 West Illinois
We are flying in at 10:20am on the 6th and flying out @ 10:20am on the 9th.
That is a lot to fit into a short time. Unless your kids are really into space, you might want to consider skipping Adler. The Sky Show is fun, but I think your youngest two would be bored.
Have you checked out the different exhibits online for Field and MSI? Doing so could help you figure out which to spend more time at, as you can easily spend many hours at either one. As the other poster stated, quite a bit of Shedd is closed due to construction, but in my opinion the Wild Reef is a must see.
They will have a great time no matter what!
Your visit seems awfully museum-centric for what is essentially a two-day visit with young children. In my opinion, the Museum of Science and Industry is an all-day activity -- especially for someone who has never been there before. The place is huge and packed with exhibits. The Field Museum could take the better part of a day too, depending on if you see any special exhibits. The Shedd could also take a day, but with the Oceanarium closed for renovations, it might not take as long. The Adler is smaller and could be reasonably done in half a day.
I just think that with kids at those ages, you might want to pick one or two museums to see and try to have more of a mix of different activities as well as a little more down time. Otherwise, you may need a vacation to recover from your vacation.
