Suggestions for Chicago trip needed.

Ok, I am trying to plan a family getaway to Chicago during the summer. The city is relatively ';new'; to all of us and I want to keep our 3(boy) and 8(girl) year old entertained, especially being mindful of our 3yr olds attention span and interests. Help and suggestions are needed, I hate to miss out on something really great. We are thinking of taking the train from St. Louis for the experience. Am I right that much can be seen on foot and by cab or should we drive? Thanks!

You don%26#39;t need a car here. Parking is very expensive. Everything can be covered on foot, bus, or train. www.transitchicago.com for public transit information. A CTA visitor pass might come in hand for your visit.

www.explorechicago.org is a good site to do some research. The Visiting Chicago section on this web site is another resource. Also cruise through previous posts on this forum for ideas.

As Dave says, forget the car, absolutely not needed. A few suggestions for you and your kids. The beach, and the beach front. Bring bathing suits. The beach and lakefront path are what Chicago are about. The Lincoln Park Zoo, free and a wonderful childrens section and truly wow ape house where the kids can get up close. Navy pier and the Childrens Museum. The Aquarium. Millenium Park fountain...bring a towel as the kids go wading. The Bean...kids can see themselves over and over into infinity.

Here are the top ten attractions in Chicago for families. I would certainly do the zoo and the aquarium. Your children might also like the Sears Tower.
