Hotwire Hotel - O'Hare Airport ORD South

Arriving at the Int. Airport late 30th June and plan stay of 3 nights. We are happy to travel by train to City Center.

Hotwire are currently offering a 3* Hotel at the Airport South for $43. I am not sure but suspect that it may be the Holiday Inn. Seems a good deal but any forum member aware of potential problems or do they actually know the hotel featured.

Help would be appreciated

Without knowing the amenities, the 3* properties are - Aloft, Comfort Suites, Holiday Inn Elmhurst, Holiday Inn O%26#39;hare. www.betterbidding.com/index.php鈥?/a>

I think you would be happier staying closer to the city...you are about 35-40 minutes train ride in to the city from O%26#39;Hare...sure, you won%26#39;t get a $43 rate, but I%26#39;m sure you can find a good deal, and you can spend less time on the train, and more time exploring the city. Have fun!

Many thanks for the responses. Yes I can forsee the problem with time lost on train travel time. However, my immediate concern is that my party of 3 adults arrive on a flight from London close to midnight. We will have a prior flight from N. Ireland to London and I suspect based on our previous trips to the USA that we will be extremely tired.

We will be spending 2 full days in Chicago prior to our road trip. Car Hire is also from the airport area.

My fear and reason for seeking advice was that $43 seemed too good a deal and was wary of potential problems. Usually Holiday Inn Hotels are a fairly safe bet and I still feel that this might well be the hotel Hotwire have in mind.

Any other thoughts from forum members would be welcome.

Using the betterbidding site I gave you, it%26#39;s fairly easy to score the O%26#39;hare Hilton which is right across from the terminals at ORD. You might want to consider hotels.com or Expedia.com and search for properties in Rosemont. It%26#39;s just outside of ORD. The hotels have free shuttles.

Also, most of the major car hire companies have offices downtown. There%26#39;s no reason to stay out near the airport just to hire your car.

I can see that, by your schedule, O%26#39;Hare is a practical place to stay, especially for the first night, and the next morning when you will have a travel hangover and not feel like packing up and moving to another place. It does seem a shame when downtown hotels are $100 or less a night.

If the $43 hotel is the O%26#39;Hare Holiday Inn on River Road, it is a decent hotel. You are a pretty good walk from the train, but it is doable. Most of the O%26#39;Hare hotels have a shuttle, and I would certainly check for this. Without transportation, you%26#39;ll be limited to the hotels in the convention center area for food.

I have carried out some further homework and have come across a deal with Hotel Blake in downtown. Any forum member have views on this hotel?

IMO - Printers Row (Hotel Blake neighborhood)is a bit out of the way from a tourist perspective.
